Chat & Behavior Rules
1.) No spamming or otherwise being a nuisance
Repetitive messages whether in a public chat or via direct messages is not allowed. This includes any kind of message or action including, but not limited to, leaving and re-joining the server repeatedly.
2.) Only English may be used in public chats.
Our community is primarily English speaking. Other languages can be used in direct messages or in a /group chat. This rule is in place in part because staff cannot moderate other languages effectively, and also to avoid excluding the majority of players who cannot read and understand the private conversation.
3.) No inappropriate player skins, builds, or other expressions of offensive content
Player skins must be appropriate. Skins without clothing, for example, are not allowed. Sexual builds are not allowed. Hate symbols such as swastikas are not allowed.
4.) Follow all Discord, Microsoft and Mojang rules and Guidelines
The Discord terms of service and Mojang usage guidelines must be followed.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Usage of a cracked or unauthorized Minecraft account
Accessing Discord when under the age of 13
https://discord.com/terms
https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/usage-guidelines
5.) No circumventing rules, testing boundaries, or searching for loopholes
Attempts to "skirt the rules", push boundaries, or find loopholes is explicitly not allowed. Any behavior that bothers other players will be actioned by staff.
6.) No Disruptive behavior
Any behavior that negatively impacts the community, whether or not it directly violates an specific rule, will be actioned by staff.
This includes, but is not limited to, actions that attempt to circumvent or exploit the rules (see above guideline 4)
General Rules
General Rules
Rule 1.) No excessively offensive language
Java Survival should be a fun and welcoming environment for everyone! While we allow casual swearing, excessively offensive language is not permitted and may result in a mute or ban. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
Excessive Profanity – Occasional swearing is fine, but spamming curse words or using them aggressively toward others is not.
Discriminatory or harmful language – Any form of racism, sexism, homophobia, or other discriminatory language is not allowed and will likely result in an immediate permanent mute or ban.
Targeted Harassment – Do not insult, bully, or harass other players.
Sexually Explicit or Vulgar Language – While the server is not strictly family-friendly, we do not allow overly graphic, obscene, or inappropriate discussions.
Note: These rules apply to all forms of communication, including but not limited to in-game, on Discord, on voice calls, and via in-game signs. Inappropriate player skins fall under this rule.
If you’re unsure whether something is appropriate, please ask staff. Persistent violations may result in temporary or permanent mutes or bans.
Rule 2.) No Politics or Controversial Topics
Many of our players wish to avoid contentious real-world topics while playing Minecraft; Gaming is often an escape from that sort of thing. Because of this, we do not allow any discussion of politics, religion, or other controversial topics.
This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Politics
Religion
Drugs
Sexual Activities
Suicide, death, etc.
Personal information
Rule 3.) No hacking, cheating, or abusing exploits
You may not make use of any mods, macros, game bugs, exploits, or other method that gives an advantage over other players.
Attempts to use the server seed for resource collection or other advantages falls under this rule.
Many mods and game mechanics are approved for use. Please see {INSERT LINK HERE} for the full list.
This one probably needs some work
Rule 4.) Do not disturb other players or their property
Any act of damage or disruption to either a public space, or a player's space, builds, resources, environment, etc. is not allowed.
Stealing is not allowed. Underpaying at a shop is included in this rule.
Harvesting crops near spawn is allowed unless otherwise stated, however failing to replant the crops is considered stealing. Trampling an excessive amount of crops is also considered destruction of property.
Killing animals, tamed or otherwise, is not allowed, such as killing cows or chickens contained within a players' fenced in area.
Keeping items picked up from a player who has died is NOT allowed and is considered stealing, unless agreed upon beforehand as part of a PVP duel.
It is your responsibility to fix damages, even accidental, such as in the case of a creeper explosion. If you're unable to fix something, you must alert staff via a Discord help ticket or by obtaining the attention of an online mod or admin.
Harming another player themselves is not allowed. Engaging in PVP with another player without their permission is not allowed even if they have PVP enabled. Damaging another player in any way is not allowed; Examples include but are not limited to player traps, lava buckets, pushing a player off of a cliff, etc
Rule 5.) Do not build too close to other players
To maintain a fair and enjoyable experience for all players, you may not build too close to others without first obtaining permission from that player or, if necessary, from staff. This ensures that everyone has room to expand and prevents disputes over territory.
Always Ask First! – If someone has an existing build nearby, you must ask for their permission before starting your own. If they are inactive or unreachable, consult staff.
Claims Do Not Define All Boundaries – While land claims protect against griefing, unclaimed land is not automatically free for others to build on if it is too close to someone’s active area.
The Further from Spawn, The Stricter the Rule – Near spawn, space is more limited, so some closer builds may be allowed. However, in far-off areas where players intentionally settle away from others, you must respect their space even more.
Modifying Nearby Land Requires Approval – Terraforming, clearing, or altering terrain near someone’s build without permission is not allowed.
If disputes arise, staff will have the final say in determining what is "too close." Repeated violations may result in the removal of your build.
Rule 6.) Be respectful to others and be kind
We want the server to be a fun and welcoming environment for everyone. You must treat others with respect and kindness, whether in chat, voice, in-game or on Discord. The following are just some behaviors that are not allowed:
No Trolling or Toxic Behavior – Annoying others on purpose, spamming, or creating drama.
Intentionally Annoying Players – Repeatedly bothering someone after they’ve asked you to stop (e.g., following them around, making unwanted noises in voice chat or in-game,).
Excessive Caps or Spam – Yelling (TYPING LIKE THIS) or flooding chat with unnecessary messages.
Constant Negativity – Always complaining, insulting the server, or making everything seem worse than it is.
Mocking Players – Making fun of someone’s skill level, playstyle, or how they talk or type.
Being kind doesn’t mean you can’t joke around or have fun, but it does mean keeping things friendly. If staff determines that your behavior is making the server less enjoyable for others, you may be warned or punished.
Rule 7.) No advertising
Advertising is not allowed; This includes, but is not limited to:
Advertising Other Servers – Do not share IPs, invites, or links to other Minecraft or Discord servers, with exceptions for Java Survival related servers (please seek approval from staff beforehand).
Promoting External Websites or Products – You may not promote personal websites, YouTube channels, social media accounts, products or services, etc.
This rule applies to all forms of communication within Discord and in-game, including chat, signs, books, and even private messages. If you’d like to promote something, please ask staff first. Violations may result in warnings or bans depending on the severity of the situation.
